Early Learning

Why not book one of our activities targeted towards the Early Years Foundation Stage? All of our activities and sessions are about exploration, inspiration and play.

We are happy to take booking from informal parent and child groups and groups of childminders as well as nurseries and pre-schools.



For up to 30 3-5 year olds.

Duration: 45 minutes

Cost: £60

Where: Can take place at your setting or in the Museum

Go on an adventure with our explorer guide Gertrude to learn about the world through objects from Poole Museum. Involves storytelling and singing. Groups visiting the Museum can choose to follow the mini-explorers trail too.


Museum Music and Mime

For up to 20 0-5s or up to 30 3-5 year olds

Duration: 45 minutes

Cost: £60 

Where: Can take place at your setting or in the Museum

Sing familiar nursery rhymes based around a theme (e.g. colours, weather, animals, food, numbers, transport) and linked to objects in the museum. Learn Singalong signs and move to the songs. 



For up to 20 3-5 year olds.

Duration: 1 hour

Cost: £75 

Where: In the Museum

Set in our interactive pirate ship environment. Find out about Poole's famous pirate 'Arry Paye. Learn ship skills and act out a daring pirate raid to steal a golden cross.

The Tiger Who Came to Tea 


For between 6 and 30 children


Duration: 1 hour


Cost: Free


Where: At Poole Museum


Borrow our museum story and toy pack to explore the classic children's story, The Tiger Who Came to Tea through the exhibitions and displays at Poole Museum. Self-guided activity, just ask for the resources at the Museum reception.



For up to 20 2-5 year olds

Duration: 1 hour

Cost: £75 

Where: In the toy room at Scaplen's Court

Learn about old toys, play old fashioned games, role-play toy shops in our atmospheric toy room.
